So I decided to step up to a 160 tank and was able to package it and drive it more than an hour to my house. Unfortunately the last 10' it chipped out a piece of glass... as this is the first time this has happened I'm on the fence. Had it looked at by tank fabricator and they said it should be OK but obviously you never know. That being said this 3" chip has me indesisive. It's a dream tank of mine the exact look and size I've always wanted. Side note day two of water testing in garage no leaks.

Thoughts?

I'm a bit disoriented by the 1st and 2nd photos - while the second is showing the top brace on the back, the first seems like an entirely different location, maybe on the back panel at the bottom?

Sorry it's a little confusing the chip is the bottom back panel. The picture up top was me holding the piece that broke of showing the thickness of the broken piece compared to the overall thickness of the glass

That's kind of a crap shoot, you definitely created a weak point, but the question becomes, are there any microscopic fissions that once the weight of the water is pushing from the inside, will it crack and fail.

The way it sheered off suggest that you have a good chance. But no matter how you look at it, you're the one that has to make the decision to roll the dice.

I think what i might do is try and find another tank or get one made. Any recommendations out there?

I think what i might do is just sell it as is and see if someone wants to use it for a reptile tank or something like that. or someone wants to try it out. With having a little girl i cant take the risk is hurts her.
