I’m thinking about getting an emerald crab to eat bubble algae, but unheard they’ll eat LPS. Thoughts?

We haven’t ever had much luck with them eating bubble algae. With that being said, I’ve never had any bother LPS. I did catch one munching on Zoas once. He quickly became roommates with Ambers mantis shrimp…

You might want to look into a foxface, if you’ve got the room in your tank. The one we have eats bubble algae.

Thanks! My tank is fallow for the next 90 days, but I thought foxfaces can eat LPS…

Bubble algae can be pretty easy to manually remove or manage, too. Despite a lot of misconception out there, popping the bubbles does NOT make more bubbles - it's the tissue of the algae itself that spreads it. (that's been verified by marine algae biologists - which have an even fancier title than what I just sold them as - Phycologists)

Mine has never bother corals as far as I can tell. I have at least one big fat emerald crab in my 180 (maybe more--I've put at least 4 in there, but never seen more than one at a time)

I have bubble algae, but it stays in check. I also have a foxface. I've not noticed him eating but he could be.

Both are model citizens and leave my corals alone.
