It’s been a long time

Hello there,

My name is Shaun and I have been mostly out of the hobby for about 12 years now. Used to go to the AZ Frag meetings every month from the far west valley. I think they were at Thomas and Hayden at a sports bar at that time. Anyway, I have really been craving another reef tank again, so I may be getting back in the hobby for some reason.

I am now in Glendale and I have my big 600 gallon tank and equipment still in storage waiting to be set up, but I may start with a smaller tank to get acclimated back in the hobby first to relearn everything.

It’s strange being out of the hobby for so long. All of my old favorite LFS are no longer around except for the ocean floor, but the new places I have checked out seem pretty nice.

Just wanted to say Hi 😊.

Hey Hifiguy...Right now its in thought mode including how I want to have pvc pipes put in the concrete for electric etc to come up inside the tank stand from the concrete floor. . Lights I would hang from ceiling with motorized pully system . I am thinking of either a complete 4 sided walk around with center of tank over flow and water return, or a peninsula tank but still be able to walk around it 360 degrees... tank idea size so far is 8ftx4ftx30 inch tall..

Pranksters Too. They up and shut their doors one night without really telling anyone, back in Jan 2018. We had a meeting scheduled 2 days later... :(

Pranksters was awesome! It’s an OTB now. Maybe we could do a meet there and bet some ponies sometime!

Amber and I actually went in their and spoke with manager about having the meetings there once again.

They weren’t interested, unfortunately.

Hello! I remember you. I am just getting back in to this myself but only have a 15g to work with. It was strange getting to know the LFS scene now but otherwise it does not seem like a lot has changed.

Welcome back, if you are serious about starting up again but want to start smaller I have a 300 gallon Tru Vue acrylic that I would be willing to work some kind of a deal for your 600 gallon. The tank is currently a running FOWLR tank.

Sounds like you found a 600 😊 just saw your move request sadly but glad you got pro movers. 600s are hard on friendships lol. Would love to see pictures when you get it all set up.

I'm in the far west valley, and I have to say that not having a lfs anywhere near me isn't a big deal. With everything online, amazon and local hobbyists that propagate coral qt fish, I haven't stepped inside a fish store since we had the meeting at vca and a bunch of us went over to aquaholics, but I didn't need anything while I was there. Before that, I was on a dry spell of over 2+ years.
