Who else has this same SPS coral, and what does it look like in your tank?

The coral in this pic - the long Pearly with Purple tips one, was given to me at the 2022 Frag meeting here at our office. This is a top-down shot taken a few days ago.

At the time, I was told it was a piece that a number of club members have and that it looked different (both color and growth pattern) in everyone's tank.

If you have a piece of this coral , I'm curious what this specimen looks like in your tank. And - if you know,, what is the name of this coral?

Hi Antonio, I remember that day but I can't recall the name ... But remember I was wanting a piece...but lost the bids...Anyway Looking at the picture my first guess is that is is BC Skinny Love, Acro. My second guess is Oregon Blue Tort. Hope my guesses help your research...Sal and Judy

We purchased that coral at a frag meeting in 2018 or 2019. I don’t remember the seller, but it was listed as an unknown acro.

I am terrible at taking pictures, so this is all I could find of it. This was from the first frag we made, when we put it in a second tank.

You can see the colors are drastically different from yours.

In our high light (AI Primes), high flow, low nutrient tank it’s gone mostly whitish, but still grows really well.

In our higher nutrient, under T5’s tank, it’s gone mostly a deep blue. (I believe this was the tank that frag you have came from.)

I recently put an accidental frag (really, it was a nub) in the Titan tank (run only with VCA RFG nozzles), and it’s coloring is the closest to the colors you’re pulling, than either other tank we have it in.

Hey Antonio, are you sure it isn’t the BearlPerry? That was my initial guess, it kind of looks like the old Pearl Berry, but it isn’t. From JPorter initially?
It might be, but Jeff was over at the house (back when he was in the hobby), shortly after we had gotten our frag of it, and he wanted a piece of it once it got larger.

Not to say it isn’t the infamous JP Bearl Perry, but he brought a frag of that over, and when both corals were frags, in the same tank, they didn’t look alike. Unfortunately We managed to kill the Bearl Perry (oops!)

I’d love if we could come to a consensus on what it is.

what ever it is I have a nice spot in the 300 for a small piece......also have a spot for green slimer...The 300 has made a great turn around since taking out all the lace/lava rock a few months ago(Aug). We still tking baby steps with it. So far all her zoas are back in and the few corals we had...Been building and adding to the sump and playing with flow ideas in the sump along with lighting. Time has been limited as the backyard and house addition consumed every free minute we had but this Saturday, we hired a crew to pour the new patio floor, 11 yards of concrete. Then a few things let, bbq isalnd and fire pit....and then we should be ready for a meeting here if you guys want....Have a great weekend my friends....

I honestly don't know - it looks different that when I got it as a small/medium sized frag. - both in coloration and growth pattern. it was mush more purply, and less pearly

I have a small branch I was thinking of trimming off - if I let it go, it will shade everything below it too much. You're welcome to it. Just let me know when and we'll trim it when you're here.
